Bloom
First Creations
Luckily we were able to use the water to keep cool. My Mom and Dad bought a slip~n~slide for the kids. We brought water balloons as well and had several balloon fights over the course of our five day stay.
There are other things to do at Lake Skinner. There's fishing. We didn't catch any. But we never seem to have any luck in that area. There's boating. My Dad brought his sail boat. Some of the kids got into sailing. My mom also rented a Patio Boat. These were bare bone boats. Ours didn't even have an anchor.
The campground itself is very nice. Bathrooms and showers are clean. There is some tree shade, green grass, and fire pits.
Speaking of fire pits. Isha had a run in with one on the first day we were there. He tripped and fell into it. Luckily there was no left over hot coals. But there was a strange sharp metal rod going across the bottom of it. He put his hands out to stop his fall (Thank God. It could have been worse) and cut his fingers up. One of the cuts was gaping and looked like it would require medical attention. So Roque, Isha and I were off to the nearest emergency room (which is not in Temecula) in Murrieta. Five hours and three stitches later we were on our way back to camp. I can say one good thing about the small emergency/hospital building; air conditioning. Isha did really well, much better than Mom and Dad who were a nervous wreck that their precious baby had to endure such an injury.
There was also a fair amount of ant bites, bee stings and mosquito bites. I know that I seem to be painting a grim picture of our camping experience. But in spite of all these things there is something invaluable about spending time with your family in an unstructured environment and rolling with the flow of the everyday experiences. Everyone truly had a good time. Even Isha, who had to sport a 2 pound bandage around his hand to keep his wound clean, was a happy camper.
I can't wait to go back next year. Um, Dad, Could you make the reservations for earlier in the summer?

On a Lighter Note

After a repeat performance, I finally said to him, "Isha, you have to sit down if you go in there. You see Andan. He's SITTING." (Little whine) "Can you sit, Isha?" Isha vigorously nodded his head, yes. (yea right, I think) *sigh* (from me) "Ok, Let's try."

I have to agree with the author of this letter.
My Dad sent me this e mail. I am personally getting tired of all the media coverage of this man. There are more important things going on in this world.
The writer of this letter should not, I think, have apologized for telling
the truth and, if people were upset by his remarks, they haven't thought too
deeply about what he said
THIS WAS WRITTEN BY A SOLDIER IN IRAQ.
I was just watching the news, and I caught part of a report on Michael Jackson . As we all know, Jackson died the other day. He was an entertainer who performed for decades. He made millions, he spent millions, and he did a lot of things that make him a villain to many people. I understand that his death would affect a lot of people, and I respect those people who mourn his death, but that isn't the point of my rant.
Why is it that when ONE man dies, the whole of America loses their minds with grief. When a man dies whose only contribution to the country was to ENTERTAIN people, the American people find the need to flock to a memorial in Hollywood , and even Congress sees the need to hold a "moment of silence" for his passing?
Am I missing something here? ONE man dies, and all of a sudden he's a freaking martyr because he entertained us for a few decades? What about all those SOLDIERS who have died to give us freedom? All those Soldiers who, knowing that they would be asked to fight in a war, still raised their hands and swore to defend the Constitution and the United States of America .
Where is there moment of silence? Where are the people flocking to their graves or memorials and mourning over them because they made the ultimate
sacrifice? Why is it when a Soldier dies, there are more people saying "good riddance," and "Thank God for IEDs?" When did this country become
so calloused to the sacrifice of GOOD MEN and WOMEN, that they can arbitrarily blow off their deaths, and instead, throw themselves into mourning for a "Pop Icon?"
I think that if they are going to hold a moment of silence IN CONGRESS for Michael Jackson, they need to hold a moment of silence for every service member killed in Iraq and Afghanistan . They need to PUBLICLY recognize every life that has been lost so that the American people can live their callous little lives in the luxury and freedom that WE, those that are living and those that have gone on, have provided for them. But, wait, that would take too much time, because there have been so many willing to make that sacrifice. After all, we will never make millions of dollars. We will never star in movies, or write hit songs that the world will listen too. We only shed our blood, sweat and tears so that people can enjoy what they have. Sorry if I have offended, but I needed to say it.
Feel free to pass this along if you want.
Remember these five words the next time you think of someone who is serving
in the military;
"So that others may live..."

Only two people have ever effectively given their lives for you.

Creating Cards
The thing that is holding me back is...well...a couple of things. First, is Cody. I feel like I need to get his First Year album done before I start anything. Second, the space. I don't have a work area that I can start something, walk away mid project, and come back to finish later. That is why I currently set aside one day a week for scrapping. I haul all my supplies, paper and photos out to put it all away when I'm done.
About 18-19 years ago (when I was about18-19 yrs old) my grandma bought me tons of ink pads, stamps, embossing powders, heat gun, papers and other tools of the trade. I did get into making cards. But I was young and life was pulling me in different directions. Now I could kick myself! I gave all of it away about 3 yrs after the purchase. So...Yep...then there's that!

Stamping Anyone?
I try to set aside one day a week for my favorite hobby, Scrapbooking. How much I get done depends largely on my children and how independent of me they feel on that day. This last Wednesday, Isha woke up in a fabulous mood. The morning continued in this way as Andan and Isha settled into their day. Perfect scrapbooking day! Those of you who know Isha know that he is relatively small in stature for his age. He is just under 18 months and just barely over 20 lbs. I like to work at my dining room table where little hands cannot reach and I can see and hear what is going on through out the house. Imagine my shock to turn from my work for a second and turn back to find a surprise attack ON MY TABLE! Isha!! Little pint sized Isha standing on my table. I quickly lifted him down with a firm admonishment to stay off the table. Isha was quicker. Without me noticing, he had grabbed my Tim Holtz Walnut Stain Distress Ink pad. Well, I noticed about a minute later after he inked his shirt and his hands! Luckily the ink pad survived and after a perfect little inked hand print and a couple of soap washings so did Isha. I can't say the same for the shirt!

Little Wii One
To better hear the video, disable the music on the second photo slider.
With the whole family playing the Wii and the Wii fit, Isha (not one to be left out) also participates. I'm not sure how he adds up his wii fit points, but from the looks of it he holds his own. This was two months ago, he was 15 months.

Sassy Blinging Babes Picture Frame Challenge
The challenge was to take a picture frame and alter it any way you want to. The biggest challenge for me was to measure the paper to fit exactly on the front and the inside and outside edges of the frame. Once that was done I realized the only adhesive I had to use on this project was wood glue. I sanded the frame to get rid of the finish before applying the glue and paper. Then I also used the glue on the ribbon and letters. It worked really well. It dried strong and fast ans was easy to work with. Then I glued the animals on. Elijah's first trip to the zoo will be this summer, so the frame will be used to commemorate that event.
